Linda's obituary
Linda Gayle Myers Anderson Sims, 69, of Lee St, Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on December 27, 2021 after decades of battle with several chronic illnesses, including Type 2 Diabetes, Arthritis, both knee replacements, surgical reconstruction of an Achilles tendon after a boating accident, bone spurs on her feet, morbid obesity, COPD, Bipolar Disorder, Treatment Resistant Depression, Generalized Anxiety and C-PTSD.
Linda was born on September 30, 1952 to Owen Ward Myers (deceased 1994, age 68, Kennedale, Texas) and Doris Dean Melton Myers Odom (deceased 1996, age 65, Clark, Nevada) in Odessa, Texas. Born prematurely and underweight, it was said she fit in the palm of one hand. Sweet tea was part of the prescription in the following months to help her thrive.
While Linda did not finish her senior year of high school, she did go on to get her GED and complete some vocational classes through community college. It was during her high school years that her brother, Donald, lost his best friend and she lost a total crush to murder.
She met Jerry Wayne Anderson, and they wed in 1971, going on to have one daughter, Rachelle May Anderson, later to become Epiphany Anderson. There were complications that kept the baby in the hospital and separate on their first Mothers Day, but all recovered.
Linda and Jerry divorced in 1973. She was a single mother for the better part of 8 years, with one abortion of a male fetus. Some of her favorite places to visit as payday treats with her daughter were drive-in movie theaters, the flea market fair on Long Ave in Fort Worth, Red Lobster and Crystal’s Pizza Palace.
Linda also loved music. Some of her most favorite artists were John Denver, The Mamas and the Papas, Ray Stevens, and Elvis. She was told often that she looked and sounded like Mama Cass Elliott. Any opportunity on holidays or Sunday visits to her fathers house in Kennedale would include piano playing and singing with her step-sisters, brother Donald on guitar, and kids.
She worked in food service for Dairy Queen and a dairy in Fort Worth called Vandervoorts. She eventually worked for the City of Fort Worth Sanitation Department as a garbage hauler, truck driver and boom operator. This is where she met Michael Jaun Sims, Sr. and married in March of 1980 in Fort Worth, Texas at the home of Pat & Claudia Sims. Christina Maria Sims was born November 12, 1980. Linda also took on the children of Mike’s previous marriage, Michael Juan Sims, Jr., Swafford Luther Sims, and Jack Deleon Sims.
Attending a local church, Full Gospel Holiness Pentecostal on the Northside of Fort Worth, where Michael, Sr. was an anointed preacher, she participated in street evangelism, local radio broadcast music recordings, and keeping the church building clean with the work of her small child army.
Additionally, she worked from home in various cottage industry endeavors including ceramics, sewing, flower arrangements, and make-up.
The family switched churches to a less evangelical, non-denominational congregation for several years and she still engaged in church support through music and volunteer work, crafts support and sewing/ceramic projects.
Her final place of worship was the Christian Center of Fort Worth in Haltom City.
Later, she became a 911 Operator for the City of Fort Worth Police Department and then the Records Division from which she retired. In the last four years of her life, her caretaker and friend was Marisol Gonzalez of Fort Worth, TX.
Linda is predeceased by her father, Owen Ward Myers, her mother, Doris Dean Melton Myers Odom, brother, Donald “Donnie” Myers (2006 at 53 years old, Mansfield, Texas) and niece Tonya Opal Myers, (42, 04/15/1978 - 12/22/2020).
Linda is survived by two daughters, Rachelle “Epiphany” May Anderson (Copperas Cove, Texas), Christina Marie Sims Bock (Arlington, Texas) one brother, Ted Wayne Myers (Texas), two nephews Robert Shawn Myers (04/28/1974) and Aaron Tyler Myers (04/01/19974), one niece Brandy Jo Nix *03/22/1977), 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and her very long time companion, canine Buttons. Buttons has been fostered/adopted to a family in Wisconsin.
While estranged from the eldest daughter, a request has been made that all memorial contributions be made to the estate via Rachelle "Epiphany" Anderson Ockert @ rachelle.ockert@gmail.com or charity, music foundation, an animal rescue/shelter of your choice.
No services will be held. Her body was donated to the Willed Body program for UT in Fort Worth and will be used for medical teaching purposes until such a time as cremation is to be determined by the program and her ashes will be returned to daughter, Christina.
A final viewing was had at the Medical Examiners office on the Northside of Fort Worth on December 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM and was attended by daughters Rachelle & Christina, grandson Devon, and Christina's spouse, Kevin.
