Linda's obituary

Linda Mae Foster Marsden Robertson of Bend, Oregon, passed away peacefully in her home, August 30th, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones after a struggle with cancer.

Linda was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, 1949 to Dick and June Foster in Covina, CA. She moved at the age of 2 with her family to Silverton, OR, where she grew up on the banks of the Abiqua, attended school in a one room school house until the third grade, and graduated from Silverton High School in 1968. She worked first as a berry picker, then later in a cannery, a bank, with the US Forest Service, and 20 years as a bookkeeper.

In 1971, Linda earned her associates degree from Simpson Bible College in San Francisco, CA where she met her husband, John Marsden. John and Linda fell in love and were married in Silverton in 1971 and moved to Bend in 1975 where they lived in a teepee while they built their log home.

Linda raised and homeschooled their seven kids through highschool and worked hard to create a beautiful life for her family on the property where she tended a large vegetable garden and ever-expanding gorgeous flower beds, kept chickens and raised beef, trusting in God for all the needs of her family. Her beautiful gardens were her happy place and the backdrop to many swimming parties, bonfires, and afternoon teas with friends and neighbors, and many kids who considered her their mom.

Mom was known for her home baked bread, cinnamon rolls, pies, german hotcakes, hand churned butter, and her nurturing, peaceful home. She loved canning, sewing, history, and art. She sang, danced, played piano, cello, and mandolin, and passed on her love of these things to all her children.

In 2017, Linda married Gary Robertson. He loved and cared for Mom and brought her so much happiness during the short time they had together. "Papa Gary," who passed away on August 30th, 2018, was truly a gift to her entire family.

Mom loved to try all kinds of things such as riding dirt bikes, skydiving, downhill skiing, water-skiing, whitewater rafting, and surfing. Her spirit of adventure took her family all over the pacific northwest to countless camping spots, hikes in the woods, and trips to the beach.

Mom loved nature, the smell of sawdust, and holding babies - she was all about the babies. All of her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was forever planning parties and wanting to be surrounded by her family.

Mom had a deep and personal relationship with Jesus that carried her through many difficult trials, never wavering in her faith. She set an enduring example for her children and grandchildren in the ways of the Lord. She was so excited for the rapture and loved studying end-time prophecies. Every morning, you could find her on the porch reading her Bible and enjoying a cup of very strong coffee. She was a mentor and compassionate listener to her friends and her family and prayed for them daily.

She is survived by her Brother - David Alan Foster; First Husband - John Henry Marsden III; Son - Johnny and Amanda Marsden; Daughters - Robyn and Scott Klassen, Jennifer Marsden, Angela and Simeon Gough, Cherie Marsden, Daisy Marsden, Amy Marsden; Step children - Robert and Patty Robertson, Valeen and John Gonzalez; Grandchildren - Quinn, Erro, Amelie, Zion, and Olive Marsden; Gwenneth, and Adeline Gough; Kameron and Angie, Emily, Caleb, and Kori Robertson; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded by her Father - Richard Harvey Foster; Mother - Elna June (Anderson) Foster; Sister - Donna Lee Olson; Sister-in-Law - Janet Louise Foster; Brother - John Leston Foster; Second Husband - Gary Lee Robertson; and three unborn children.

Mom was loved by so many who will remember her for her love of Jesus, her kindness, her sense of humor, and for carrying on the traditions and heritage of her faith and family.

We love you, Mom, Grandma, Mumsie, Wife, Sister, Auntie, Cousin, Friend…

'Night-love-you-see-you-in-the-morning.

A memorial will be held on Oct 15th, 1pm at 23315 Bear Creek Rd, Bend, OR 97701
