Linda's obituary
Lindy Engfer Burdine Tripp, 71, passed away peacefully in Clackamas, Oregon, on August 5, 2024, surrounded by her husband, children, and closest friends. Born on September 27, 1952, in Portland, Oregon, Lindy lived a life full of love, generosity, and an indomitable spirit.
A devoted mother of five biological children—Travis, Jason, Ashley, Misti, and Shea—and two stepchildren, Cory and Chris Tripp, Lindy's legacy extends to her 18 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren (with 1 more on the way), and numerous friends and neighbors who affectionately called her "mom." She was a quintessential stay-at-home mother who later became one of Oregon's top realtors, showcasing her resilience and dedication to providing for her family.
Lindy's life was a tapestry of community involvement and personal passions. Active at New Hope Community Church, she forged lasting friendships through her involvement in the youth group. Her dedication extended to years of service as a Cub Scout leader, and she was a beloved presence at countless family and community gatherings. Known for her exceptional cooking, Lindy was the heart and soul of every party, often staying up late with projects and offering her favorite box wine to guests. Her social nature was infectious, and her fear of missing out on a good time was well-known.
She first married Fred Burdine, with whom she had her five children. After 25 years of marriage, they divorced, and Fred has since passed away. Lindy later married Gary Tripp, who remained by her side until her final moments.
Lindy's volunteer work was a testament to her compassionate heart, including her involvement with foster children and organizing annual fundraisers for adults with special needs.
She is survived by her loving husband Gary Tripp, her sons Travis, Jason, Ashley, and Shea Burdine, her daughter Misti Burdine, her stepson Cory Tripp, brother Randy Engfer, and sister Jackie Thomas.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at The Monarch Hotel Ballroom, 12566 SE 93rd Ave, Clackamas, OR 97015.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes charitable contributions to the COPD Foundation and the American Lung Association in Lindy's memory.
