Linda's obituary
Linda Later, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, at the age of 76, after bravely battling cancer and dementia. Born on February 18, 1949, in Long Island, New York, Linda was the cherished daughter of Lillian and Arthur Lennon, who instilled in her the values of love, kindness, and resilience that would define her life.
Linda's journey was marked by her marriage to Ron Later on January 25, 1969. Together, they shared a beautiful life until Ron’s passing on September 1, 2000. Despite the heartache of losing her partner, Linda remained a pillar of strength and love for her family, embodying the sweet and caring spirit that all who knew her came to admire.
Throughout her life, Linda was dedicated to her work in the grocery store industry, where she developed lasting relationships with her colleagues and customers. Her work ethic was a testament to her strong character—a trait that her family and friends will remember fondly. Beyond her professional life, Linda found joy in simple pleasures. She loved watching crime shows, captivated by their intricate plots and characters, and enjoyed the calming activity of doing color by numbers on her iPad—a hobby that brought her peace and joy.
Linda’s life was enriched by her family, who were her pride and joy. She is survived by her loving daughter, Kimberly, her treasured granddaughter, Brooklyn, her caring sister, Carole, and her devoted boyfriend, Steve. Linda also leaves behind her son-in-law, Fernando, and brother-in-law, Ed. Each of them holds a piece of her heart and will carry on her legacy of love and compassion.
In her final days, Linda's wish was to return home, surrounded by her family. Thanks to her son in law Fernando, who selflessly cared for her during her last week, that wish was fulfilled. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Azorna Hospice for their exceptional care and support during this difficult time.
Linda will be remembered not just for her struggle against illness, but for her sweet, loving nature and unwavering strength. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
