Linda's obituary

Linda Butler, 66, of Oviedo, Florida, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, after a long and difficult battle with a rare neurodegenerative disorder known as MSA (multiple system atrophy). Despite the intense pain and suffering Linda endured in the years following her diagnosis, she was determined to fight it until the very end because she could not bear the thought of leaving her beautiful family that she cherished more than anything in this world.

Linda was born on March 20, 1956, to Leo and Jean Koch in the Jackson Heights neighborhood of Queens, New York. Shortly after Linda graduated from Newtown High School in 1974, she began working as a paralegal where she met her husband, Al Butler - the “office hottie” who quickly swept her off her feet. What started out as a whirlwind romance became the foundation for a wonderful marriage that lasted for 45 years, through all of life’s ups and downs.

After ten years together, Linda and Al decided to move to Florida to start the next chapter of their lives as parents. When they welcomed their two sons, Sean and Daniel, into the world, Linda’s life became dedicated to her family.  She would frequent the theme parks every weekend with her kids, take care of them when they were sick, and work full-time to provide for them.  She made it her life’s mission to take care of and show love for her family endlessly.

Although she was taken from this world too soon, she was so grateful (and at times, a little surprised) to see her two boys grow into wonderful young men. She beamed with pride in celebrating all their accomplishments, including college graduations, successful careers, engagements, weddings, and growing families. She felt truly blessed that she was able to meet her four grandchildren - Jensen, Wesley, Wyatt, and Sienna.

In addition to her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by her sister, Susan Koch, her sister-in-law, Anne Butler, and her daughters-in-law, Christine (Jurewicz) and Kelsey (Allen) Butler, among many other friends and loved ones.

As she was determined to channel this terrible situation into something positive, Linda donated her body to the Science Center in Orlando to help in an ongoing study of Multiple Systems Atrophy. There will be a Celebration of Life at her son's house in Altamonte Springs, Florida on Sunday, March 19, 2023 to honor the memory of this incredible woman who will be missed by so many.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the MSA Coalition to support research in finding a cure for Multiple Systems Atrophy. In honor of her memory your gift will help fight this terrible, incurable, untreatable disease.
