Linda's obituary
Celebrating the Life of Linda Jamison
November 25, 1959 - March 29, 2023
On March 29, 2023, Linda Sue Jamison passed away surrounded by family in her home after a four-year battle with breast cancer. Born to Joyce and Frank Jamison in Lakewood, CO where she also resided.
She moved to Washington, D.C. after graduating from the University of Denver to pursue a career in politics and earn a Master's Degree from American University in International Communication. During her 30 years as a Washingtonian, she had a fulfilling career. As Head of Office for the United Nations Office for Project Services, she advised the Executive Director on political strategy and operations goals. For seven years, she was an integral part of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. She directed the Government Relations Program and conducted the Center's first leadership program for young women, the International Women's Leadership Fellows Program. She was then appointed as Dean of the Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy, to promote a better understanding of leadership across international borders. During President Obama's first term in office, Linda served as a Special Assistant to the President. She led the team responsible for identifying and recruiting political appointees to the national security agencies. It was during this period that she had accomplished exactly what she came to Washington to do - to serve her country in the highest office of the American Government. For her four remaining years in Washington, she was the Vice President for Global Talent Development at the United States Institute of Peace. She was a member of the Executive Committee and Leadership Team of a federally-funded organization with a global presence in conflict zones overseas. She returned to Colorado after a long and wonderful career that her 26-year-old self had only dreamed of. In Lakewood, she ended her career leading the Denver Inner City Parish and as an adjunct faculty member at the Community College of Denver. Linda had a strong belief in leaving the world in a better state, and with every decision she made that is exactly what she did.
She is survived by her daughter, Caitlin Rasmussen; her mother, Joyce Jamison; and her three siblings, Jamey Jamison, Becky Bradley, and Lorrie Jamison.
