Linda's obituary
Linda Gibson, a pillar of strength and symbol of love and patience, was born on March 20, 1952. She gently closed her eyes on January 16, 2025.
Linda was born in San Jose, California to the late Toshiye Saito and Sunato Taniguchi and was the youngest of her siblings Sumi, George, Michi, and Richard. Growing up, Linda attended Washington Union High School in 1966, where she met the love of her life, Porter Gibson. From then on, they shared the joys and trials that marked their journey together for over 50 years.
As a mother, Linda was a beacon of gentle guidance to her cherished sons Tadashi, Jalen, and Jamal, and daughter in-law Hanna Gibson. Her legacy of love and acceptance echoes in the lives of her beloved grandchildren, Briana, Courtney, and Ellie Gibson.
Linda's life was marked by service, particularly in the field of education. She received her Associates of Arts Degree in Business Administration and went on to become the receptionist at Kepler Neighborhood School in downtown Fresno. She poured her loving spirit, patience, and determination into her colleagues and students. Her chatty, but quiet nature touched many, her students and coworkers often leaving with a sense of being loved and protected. Her greatest accomplishment was not just in educating the young but in being the matriarch of her amazing family. Linda's dedication to raising her children and grandchildren, and the lessons she imparted to them, are a testament to her remarkable spirit.
In the words of those who knew her best, Linda always poured into others. She had a way of accepting things for what they are, and more importantly, accepting people for who they are. These lessons have left an indelible imprint on the hearts of her family and friends, securing her memory in the annals of their lives.
A funeral service to honor Linda's life will be held on February 1, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Fresno Betsuin Buddhist Temple. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you keep Linda's gentle spirit and her lessons of love and acceptance alive in your hearts. Linda's true legacy is the love she sowed in the lives she touched, a legacy that will continue to blossom long after her departure.
