Linda's obituary
It is with profound sadness that the Pugh family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Linda Jean Monica Gallagher-Pugh on May 12, 2025. Our family matriarch succumbed to her illness after a heroic battle against cancer. Linda passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband, cherished children, and life long best friend.
Linda was born on August 19, 1954, spending her childhood and adolescent years in Ontario with her mother, brothers, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was a gifted softball player who enjoyed all performing arts, and was exceptionally drawn to outdoor activities including swimming, camping and cycling. As a young girl, Linda had big dreams of becoming a teacher just like her mother.
Linda met and fell head over heels in love with her husband Tracy in Aurora, Ontario. They moved to British Columbia and were married on June 30, 1978, eventually settling in Port Coquitlam where they raised their family, and Linda started her career with BCAA. Linda and Tracy developed a deep passion for travel, going on countless adventures across the world. Most notably was a trip to Australia, where they met some of their life long friends. Linda’s love for travel and staying social continued beyond retirement, as she worked casually booking travel for friends and family.
Linda most enjoyed planning parties and hand crafting decorations, playing cards, watching movies, traveling to sunny destinations, watching her granddaughters dance, and being at the ball field watching her MVPs on the field, while her sons coached them. Linda felt such enjoyment from being involved in her childrens’ and grandchildrens’ activities. From watching baseball, soccer and football, to helping at beavers and scouts, to brownie leader for her granddaughter, always volunteering for anything she was needed for. Linda’s greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren, who she loved and treasured, coining the term “Nana’s Treasures”.
The family feels her loss tremendously; however, is finding comfort in Linda’s legacy of generosity, humanity and love. Linda had a profound ability to bring joy and happiness to those around her. With her beautiful smile, warm heart and immense kindness, she brightened the world, and her calm presence will forever be missed.
Linda is pre-deceased by her mother (Marion), father (Edward), sister (Monica Rose) and brother (Greg). All of who she will be embracing now in heaven as she watches over her beloved family.
She is survived by her husband Tracy, children Stefana (Stephen), Billie-Lin, Joshua (Aubrie), Zachary (Ashton) and Cody, as well as her beloved grandchildren Kristen, Klaudiya, Olivia, Maddox, Carter, Lily and Scotlyn, great-grandson Grayson, brothers Stephen (Svetlana) and Edward (Alma), sister Cathy (Pedro), and finally by all her nieces, nephews, Gallagher and Edwards extended family and life long friends.
A celebration will be held to honour Linda’s beautiful life on Saturday August 23, 2025 at 3pm at the Port Coquitlam & District Hunting and Fishing Club located at 5000 Upper Harper Road, Coquitlam BC V3E 3H1, with lunch and refreshments being served.
