Linda, (Nan, Ninny, Nan Nan) had multiple health complications, which she faced with bravery, courage and an outright grit and toughness that was indicative of how she lived her life. Her deteriorating health did not stop her from taking vacations with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including her first plane ride at the young (at heart) age of 82 to traverse down to Florida where they experienced trips to the beach, went sightseeing at the aquarium, visited theme parks, and attended bird shows with a highlight for Nan being their visit to Paula Deen’s restaurant in SC.
Linda came from a talented musical family. She could strum a guitar and from an early age, found a niche in singing country music. She won many local talent contests and was even featured on TV with Dick Curtis. Her beautiful voice could be often heard singing for her four children and as they grew up, singing karaoke with them at parties and gatherings.
She loved playing Beano and Bonco especially when she won. She kept her mind sharp with word searches, crossword puzzles and her competitive streak came out when she was playing cards with her daughter and grandson. She loved her cat, Snuggles who stayed by her side and brought her joy as a visitor during her stay in the hospital.
In her later years, her daughter introduced her to Charleston Church Downeast. The amazing congregation welcomed her immediately and they became part of her extended family. She attended church as often as her health allowed, eagerly awaiting a meaningful and well-delivered sermon, conversations with people she cared about, and songs of worship which she sang with a smile on her face and love emanating from her heart. She found comfort in her faith and was ready to be received Home and be reunited with loved ones who had already left this world.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, August 10 at 2 PM at Charleston Down East Church in Sullivan. All are welcome to help us celebrate her life and share memories.
