Linda's obituary
Linda Faye Shaw Coulter, born on January 3, 1948, passed away at her home on February 25, 2026. Linda lived a life shaped by resilience, independence, and a quiet strength that carried her through every season of her journey.
She was born to Inez Shaw and Billy Shaw, and their influence stayed with her throughout her life. She was the mother of six children: the late Lin Denny, Sherry Merchant, BJ Ford, Rufus Smith Jr., Bettie “Sammie” Fishman, and George “Cricket” Coulter. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Sullivan, with whom she shared a lifetime of family ties and memories.
Linda spent most of her working years in cotton manufacturing plants, dedicating herself to the mills until they closed. Her strong work ethic and determination were defining parts of who she was, and she carried those qualities into every part of her life.
She leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit forward. Her stubborn strength, her independence, and the complicated but meaningful bonds she shared with her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
A Tree Planting Ceremony in her honor will be held on March 14 at 2:00 PM at her daughter Sammie’s home, Magnolia Meadows & Play Yard, located at 202 E Oak Street, Luthersville, GA. All are welcome to join in planting a living tribute and sharing in remembrance.

A Poem Inspired by Isaiah 40
He gathers His children as a shepherd His flock,
Holding them close when the journey grows long.
He strengthens the weary, He steadies the soul,
And lifts up the broken with mercies untold.
Those who wait on the Lord shall rise and not tire,
Their spirits renewed as on wings that soar higher.
Now she walks in His peace, where all burdens release,
And rests in His arms in eternal sweet peace.
