Linda's obituary
Linda Lee Cahall, 74, of Slidell, LA, passed away on February 9 after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Linda was born on March 11, 1949, to Leland and Patricia Lydick in Bethesda, MD. After graduating from Elkton High School in 1967, she went on to work at the United States Navy for many years in Maryland. She transferred in this position, moving to New Orleans, LA. She started working for Internal Revenue Service as a taxpayer service officer in 1980 and retired in 2006.
In high school, she met Leonard Cahall, and they wed in 1969, going on to have 2 children, Leonard “Dean,” Jr. and Carol. She met Alton Rachal, Jr. in 1980 and they had one child, Janis.
Linda was passionate about needlework and often made crocheted or plastic canvas gifts for graduations, holidays, and special occasions. She enjoyed reading and could always be caught enjoying a good book – and would tell you all about it! She also enjoyed donating to many organizations, including animal rescue, veterans, and children’s charities. She never forgot a holiday and always had an appropriately themed card. We will miss her greatly.
Linda was predeceased by Leland and Patricia Lydick, Ricky Lydick (brother), and Robert Lydick (brother). She is survived by Dean & Christy Cahall, Carol Cahall, Janis & James Caston, and many granddogs and grandcats, David Lydick (brother) his wife Karen, Susan Lydick (Robert’s wife) and Barbara L. Walker (sister), along with nieces and nephews.
The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to Richard Murphy Hospice House (Hammond, LA) in lieu of flowers. There will be a memorial service at American Legion Post 185 at 1680 St. Anne Pl, Slidell, LA on March 9, 2024 from 2-4 PM.
