Linda's obituary
Linda Anne Bonck peacefully passed away on September 14, 2023. She was a deeply cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, leaving an indelible imprint on the lives she touched.
A graduate of East Jefferson High School (1959) and the University of New Orleans (1963), Linda exemplified lifelong learning. She married her husband Lionel Bonck, in 1964, and they were blessed with a beautiful family that included their children, Stephen, and Heather, their children's spouses, Sarajane and Geoff, and their treasured grandchildren, Ellie, Emily, Jacob, and Ian. Remembering their sweet granddaughter, Ana Grace Cunningham, with whom Linda now rests.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held on September 23, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Sanlando United Methodist Church, a spiritual space where she spent many meaningful hours.
Linda's life was marked by her commitment to service and her community. She volunteered with her Homeowners Association Board of Directors for many years and was actively involved with the Central Florida Track Officials Association as she loved working with her Lionel and their friends around the athletes across the Southeast. She was actively involved with the woman’s organization, P.E.O., reflecting her innate compassion and sense of social responsibility. Linda held past presidencies with PEO for the State of Florida and Chapter GG in Orlando. She was also once the president of the Officer’s Wives Club on Pease AFB while the family was stationed there. These organizations were beneficiaries of her leadership skills and generous spirit.
Gifted with an infectiously joyful personality, Linda was known for her generosity, kindness, and class. She found joy in simple pleasures like savoring her favorite treat, chocolate, or enjoying ''Rock around the Clock'' by Bill Hailey and the Comets. She cheered enthusiastically for the LSU Tigers Football and FSU Cheerleading and always enjoyed a lively game of cards.
Linda loved spending time with her family and friends, and her favorite vacation memories were made in Italy, Australia, and New Zealand. A woman of beautiful tastes, she had a soft spot for the colors aqua and purple.
Linda Bonck will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Her legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire those who knew her and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Jane B. Smith Education Fund as this was one of Linda's favorite charities. Directions for giving can be found in the comments section of the “Events” tab on this site.
