Linda Staton the daughter of the late Foreman Powell-Staton & Mary Lee Baker-Staton was born September 21, 1952 in Pitt County, Greenville, NC. Peacefully passed away on January 28, 2024.
After graduating from North Edgecombe High School in 1970, she relocated to Danbury, CT. She was employed by Union Carbide , INC as a Administrator Assistant. She retired in 1984 and relocated here family to Pinetops, NC for a number of years. In 2001, she relocated back home to Conetoe, NC. Were she became the first African American Women too become Mayor for the Town of Conetoe, NC. Until retiring in 2019.
A woman of great resilience and unfailing kindness, Linda led an inspiring life, touching the hearts of many. She carried an everlasting love for her son, Kelly Staton, who survives her.
Beyond her family, Linda was well-regarded in her community, making a difference in countless lives. Her legacy will undeniably continue, living on in the memories she leaves behind. The loss of her vibrant spirit is profound, but the joy she brought to our lives will forever be cherished.
As we mourn, we also celebrate Linda's life, honoring her memory in the actions we take and the love we share. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kelly during this challenging time.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, three brothers, One special Great-grandchild Trent Dashaun Westray.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, two children: Daughter, Margaret Yavonne Wetray of Thomasville, NC and Son, Kelly Eugene Staton of the Home. Four grandkids: Antonio Maurice Joyner, Chaunese T. Westray, Chaunele T. Westray, and Maci Westray. Three great-grandchildren, with one Great-grandson on the way. One Sister, Mary L. Carmack of Bethel, NC & One Brother, Foreman Staton Jr. & Sylvia Staton of Mildred, NC. One Sister-in-law, Dot Staton of Tarboro, NC. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
