Linda's obituary
It is with loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Linda Ann Lyles, who returned to her heavenly Father surrounded by her loved ones on March 26,2026.
Linda was born on July 20, 1939 to her parents, Nancy McCubbins Bolton and Dudley Bolton.
Linda was a shining light to all who knew her—a faithful servant of God whose life reflected kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for others. She was proud to call Louisville her home, where she was born and raised and built a life centered on family, faith, and community.
For nearly 50 years, Linda was a devoted and active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she formed lasting friendships and served with dedication. Her proudest moments were serving alongside her husband Jerry and her great-grandson Zachary Smith in the East as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron, serving as District Deputy alongside Michael E Berry and Zachary, and serving as Grand Electa in the Miller-Berry Grand Family. The Order of the Eastern Star meant so much to her and she had a major impact on the Order. She found great joy in helping others and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.
Linda’s home was a place of warmth and comfort. She could often be found sitting at her kitchen table, crocheting beautiful afghans with care and love, each one a reflection of her giving spirit. She was also a true master in the kitchen, known especially for her delicious desserts—her peach cobbler being a cherished favorite among family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved spouse of 53 years, Thomas Jerry Lyles; her daughters, Monica Anderson and Jan Steele; and a growing legacy of love through her three grandchildren, Melinda Ann Smith, Angela Chancellor Rivera(Leo), and Lyndan Thomas Steele; nine great-grandchildren, Charles Zachary Smith(Tori), Adam Blake Smith, Andrew Ray Emberton, Makayla Jeanette Yates(Nick), Leo Ibrahimkaadic, Cameron James Cox(Jada), Gracie Ann Mudd, Elijah Jacob Chancellor, and Mariah Juliana Rivera; nine great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was very proud of all of her grandchildren.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a later time at the Okolona-Preston Lodge Hall, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she lived.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Linda’s memory, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in her name.
Linda’s life was a beautiful example of faith, love, and devotion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
