Lillie's obituary
Lillie attended high school in Montgomery, Alabama and after graduation moved to Chicago, IL. She met and fell in love with L.C. Golladay, Sr. of which she bore three children, Shirley, Patricia and L. C. Golladay, Jr. (Gwendolyn) L.C. Golladay, Jr, (affectionately called Junior and Gwendolyn preceded her in death).
Lillie obtained her nursing certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1965, afterwards working faithfully and concurrently at Mount Sinai Hospital (30 years) and Parkview Nursing Home (20 years). Lillie continued working in the nursing capacity after retirement from Mount Sinai Hospital as a private duty nurse and nursing homes until she finally stopped working at about the age of 70. Lillie loved taking care of people and providing her special loving touch to her patients. She loved knitting and crocheting hats, scarves, gloves, dollies and blankets for her family and friends.
Lillie loved the Lord and accepted the call of Jesus Christ at a very young age. She was a faithful member of Rising Sun Baptist Church when living in Chicago, IL and of Grace Missionary Baptist Church when she moved to Country Club Hills in 1986. She humbly served on the Mother’s Board and Sunday School other capacities at Grace until she became ill. She often exclaimed “I am a child of the Most High Living God,’ and would often tell others about God’s love and salvation. The words of Jesus were her compass and she demonstrated his love, kindness, grace and mercy to family and friends throughout her life. She was an inspiration and surrogate parent to many during her life’s journey.
Lillie leaves to cherish her memory two children, Shirley Golladay-Snoddy and Patricia Guy. Stepdaughters, Lorenda (Darnell) Robinson and Samantha (Tracy) Smith. Grandchildren, Palatrice Hawkins (Eric), Maurice Guy, James Snoddy, (Rebekah) Clinton Johnson, Victoria Golladay (preceded her in death) Crystal Guy, Eric Golladay, Carnell Smith and Marcus Guy. Great Grandchildren, Ashlee Snoddy, Racheal Peace, Immanuel Branch, Grace, Jamie and Zoey Snoddy, Jada Snoddy (preceded her in death), great, great grandchildren, Romance and Royalle Wallace, Rylan and Maasai Peace, Maria, Caleb and Zion Snoddy and Milyian Guy. Lillie was the honorary mother of Veronica (Kenneth) Taylor, Pamela and Tatyanna Bradley and Keisha Smith-Burns. She was the amazing aunt, cousin and friend to many who will miss her dearly.
