Lillie's obituary
Lillie (Lil) M Sekerak (nee Bailey) 77 of Marshall, IL formerly of Universal, IN passed away unexpectedly on September 14, 2022.
Lillie was born on February 17, 1945 in Terre Haute, IN to George and Friedabelle (Moore) Bailey. Lillie went to West Vigo High School in West Terre Haute, IN and graduated in 1963. She furthered her education at the Indiana Business College in Terre Haute. Lillie went on to work for many companies including Goodwill Industries from where she retired. On June 1st, 1968 Lillie married the love of her life Charles M. Sekerak at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in West Terre Haute, IN.
Lillie will be remembered for having a huge heart and the love she had for her family. She was kind, thoughtful and appreciated those around her. She was the first to cheer you on or take up a battle on your behalf! She was also the first to send a card or flowers to brighten someone’s day. Lillie loved to volunteer at the Humane Society and was always willing to volunteer at other organizations around town. Throughout her life, Lillie was an animal lover, she especially loved their many dogs and watching wild life outside her windows. She was an avid reader, a lover of antiques, and loved to laugh. She had the funniest stories of her and Mike's adventures! Lillie especially loved Hawaii and the many places she traveled with her late husband Mike. She will be missed by everyone who met her.
Lillie is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Charles and her parents.
Lillie is survived by cousins Helen Hunter (Gene) of West Terre Haute and Arnold Cooper of Las Vegas, her Sister-in-Laws Carol Sekerak (who was also her best friend); Tana (Sekerak) Olinger and Janet Smith; many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who all took a great joy in spending time with her. Plus many friends that held a special place in her heart.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lillie’s name to the Humane Society.
A Celebration on life for friends and family will be held in October.
