Lillian's obituary
Lillian Wage, 91 , Worcester -
Lillian (née Dionne) passed away Friday , June 30, 2023 at home, Worcester MA. She leaves three children, Steve Wage of Worcester, Ken Wage, formerly of Holden, currently Naples FL, and Linda Wage of Holden and two grandchildren, Nick Wage and Elizabeth Wage, and many extended loving family members. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 64 years, Charles E Wage.
The core of Lillian’s life was devotion to her spirituality, her family and friends. Service to others was her keynote and she found great joy in charities and assisting friends and family. She maintained that focus to the very end. Lillian was athletically inclined from an early age. Even in her nineties she would make her daily loop, walking around Coes Pond and adjacent neighborhoods, greeting fellow walkers and neighbors along her routes, often stopping to chat, or listening to music. She was a talented singer with a lifelong love of music, often attending concerts.
She graduated from St. George's High School in Manchester. Lillian remained friends and reunited with her small group of graduates - late into her 80’s. She developed a love of travel and was able to make many trips throughout North America and Europe with loved ones.
Lillian had a lifelong involvement with St Andrew’s, St Charles and Blessed Sacrement parishes. She had an active career in accounting at Holden Country Club, Sawyer’s and Adcare in Worcester. She retired to care for and spend time with her beloved grandchildren. Later in life, Lillian developed an intense love of reading, especially history and biographical literature, much like her father. Her love of art blossomed as well, and she enjoyed following the artistic career of her son, as well the athletic, academic and business careers of her children and grandchildren. She was a constant inspiration, both as a spiritual and worldly advisor and protector, and as a source of life’s hard won wisdom. She was truly the Light at the center of our family.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 24th, at 11am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St.
