Lilleth's obituary

In Loving Memory of Lilleth Eunice Pennycooke

January 25, 1923 – July 23, 2025

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.

Our beloved matriarch, Lilleth Eunice Pennycooke, entered into eternal rest on July 23, 2025, at the age of 102. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, educator, and woman of unwavering faith, Lilleth was the heart and soul of our family a guiding light whose warmth and wisdom touched every life she encountered.

For over 4 decades, she served as an educator, shaping minds and nurturing hearts with patience, compassion, and energy that never seemed to tire. Her classroom was more than a place of learning, it was a place of hope, encouragement, and growth, where every child was seen, heard, and loved. She taught with conviction, purpose, and joy, believing firmly that “Heights of great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight,” and she inspired her students to strive for those heights daily.

At home, she was our rock. A devoted mother to four sons, she raised them with grace, discipline, and deep love; a love that extended to her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished and poured her heart into. Her nurturing spirit wove through everything she did, from warm meals prepared with care to the gentle counsel she offered during life’s storms.

Her home was a place of welcome, where everyone found comfort; whether it was family, friend, or stranger. Her hospitality was legendary, her giving heart unmatched. She gave freely  of her time, her love, and her faith. Her favorite reminder, “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise,” was more than just advice it was how she lived.

A devout woman, Lilleth walked with God daily. Her faith wasn’t just something she spoke about it was something she lived. Her prayers were powerful, her wisdom deep, and her spiritual strength a foundation for our family.

Though she has left this earthly life, her legacy lives on in the lessons she taught, the kindness she gave, and the love she sowed in each of us. She was a woman of energy, dignity, kindness, and perseverance. Even in her later years, her spirit remained vibrant, her faith unshaken, and her love for family and community as strong as ever.

We are forever grateful for the gift of her life, and we will carry her memory in our hearts always.

Rest in peace, beloved Mom, Grandma Lilleth. You have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
