Lilia's obituary
Lilia “Lily” Calderón Fernández was two months away from completing her 93rd year of life when she peacefully passed on Friday, January 21, 2022 in Miami, Florida. Lilia was known to have an independent and indomitable spirit. She was strong yet loving and with a sense of humor that never failed to make us laugh. She taught us by her example to speak with conviction, to never ever give up, to be true to ourselves always, to live with passion, to have faith and to love one another.
Lilia was a devoted mother and leaves behind her beloved children, a daughter, Carilyn Casanova (Jorge) and a son, Lino Miguel Fernández (Marlenne).
She was the proudest grandmother of four: Gene Paul and Stephanie Gayol, Michael Fernández (Janelee) and Gabrielle Gayol Wagner (Aaron) who will remember her always as being "fearless", "resilient" and "strong". She also leaves behind two great granddaughters, Isabella and Valentina Fernández.
She was a loving and devoted sister to Maruja and Doris Delgado and was predeceased by her brothers, Rafael and Jose Alberto Calderon.
"Lily" was very loved by family, friends and her dedicated caretakers and will never be forgotten. May her memory be a blessing.
Funeral services were held at our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Doral, Florida led by Rev. Fr. Pedro Corces.
