Lewis's obituary
He was born to parents Clinton and Doris Turner, on October 11, 1947, in the District of Columbia. He graduated from George Mason High School where he played basketball. After high school, he enlisted into the military, Marine Corp to be exact, where he served for 4 years. He was Honorably Discharged after being injured in the Vietnam War. Later, to retire from the United States Postal Service as a window clerk in Jan 2006.
He married Mordessa Cole, the love of his life, sometime after high school as well, who gained her wings in 1975. Lewis is survived by partner Dorothy Nelson, who he met later on, son Lewis, Jr. (Renee), daughters Lolita and Lenora Turner, step-daughter, Tonya Nelson, step-son, Michael Nelson, nephews Brian and Stacy Turner, grandchildren, Rhea, Elyjah, Louis, Aliyah, Miles, Ke’Andre, Benton, and Jakoby, as well as a host of other amazing in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Lewis was predeceased by parents Clinton and Doris Turner, wife, Mordessa Turner, and brothers Clinton and Maxwell Turner.
Meats was known for his love of football. There were many stories of his athletic abilities. He was an avid Redskins fan, now known as Washington Football Team, and no one could tell him that his squad wasn’t the best. He was also a fan of the Washington Wizards and the Washington Nationals, as a native of Washington, DC of course.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021, at 12pm at Mountcastle Turch Life Celebration Home in Dale City, burial to follow at Quantico Cemetery. The family is asking for donations to support his grandkids sports activities, in lieu of sending flowers.
