Lester's obituary
L. H. Lee passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on October 31, 2025 in Marietta, Georgia.
Born on August 30, 1939, in Oklahoma City, OK, L.H. was a faithful, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and counselor. His family often referred to him as the quintessential Promise Keeper.
L.H. graduated from Classen High School, Oklahoma City, OK and went on to get his Bachelor of Arts at Cameron University in 1972. He earned a Masters in Counseling and Administration at the University of Texas at El Paso in 1975.
He served proudly in The United States Marine Corps from 1961-1964.
He selflessly loved and cared for his wife, Jeanne, throughout her 25 year battle with MS. His faithfulness and devotion to her were a beautiful thing to behold. He and Jeanne raised their two daughters to love the Lord with all their heart, mind, soul and strength and to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with their God.
L.H. walked with Jesus intimately, keeping volumes of prayer journals throughout his life. He could be found early every morning having time alone with God and interceding for his family, the church and friends and reading his Bible. His walk was one of true humility.
He had a beautiful, baritone singing voice and was an accomplished soloist and choral director. Among the most often requested songs for him to sing were, "Ship Ahoy (Old Ship of Zion)," "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power," "The Lord's Prayer," and "O Holy Night." Over the years his family heard him receive hundreds of compliments on his singing voice and his response was always, "Thank you. I'm glad the Lord could use it."
He had a boisterous laugh and loved a good, funny story.
L.H. played singles and doubles tennis and was a great competitor. He was a handyman extraordinaire and all around do-it-yourselfer. He loved working with his hands — fixing, installing and improving things in and around the house.
A full-time ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, L. H. held positions as Minister of Music throughout his career. Usually coupled with a second title, he also held positions simultaneously as Youth Minister or Church Administrator serving at Southern Baptist churches in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arizona. His Masters in Counseling often drew church members, coworkers, neighbors and friends to seek his Godly, wise counsel.
After retiring from ministry to care for his wife, Jeanne, struck with MS in her early 30's, he began a second career with General Services Administration in Fort Worth, Texas and enjoyed a long and prestigious government career as a Contract and Realty Specialist from 1988 until his retirement in 2018.
After losing Jeanne in 1998 he was most assuredly deserving of a wife and companion to live out his next nearly three decades. He chose Gayle Choate, the church pianist/organist and pastor's secretary and they were married in July of 1999. They ministered together and blessed churches with their talents and gifts as they surrendered those joyfully to the Lord.
He was a wonderful and gifted Sunday School teacher, and his class was a favorite to which people flocked every week. A constant student of The Word of God, he loved teaching others and facilitating great discussion that drew him and everyone else closer to the Lord.
L.H. leaves behind a loving family:
