Leslie's obituary
Leslie Christine Wilkie, cherished daughter of Virginia Townes and the late James Townes, was born on November 15, 1972, in Baltimore, MD. She peacefully departed from this world on April 13, 2025, after bravely facing a prolonged illness. Affectionately known as “Peaches” by her family. Leslie made an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Leslie attended the public schools in Baltimore and proudly graduated from Southwestern High School in 1991. From a young age, she was a devoted member of Christ Deliverance Church, and later, she embraced the community at New Beginnings International Church, where she became one of its founding members. Her passion for music shine brightly as sang in the choirs of both churches, expressing her love for God through gospel music.
Professionally, Leslie worked with Service 1st Mortgage, Honeywell Security and served as a dispatcher for the Anne Arundel County Police Department. She was known for her loving and caring nature, always ready to lend a helping hand and open her heart to others.
Family was at the core of Leslie’s life and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Family gatherings brought her immense joy, creating memories that will last forever. In her youth Leslie was an energetic dancer; along with her friends, she formed a neighborhood dance group called “Total Motion” a testament to her vibrant spirit. Additionally her favorite sport was volleyball where her agility and quickness shined through despite her petite stature.
Leslie leaves behind a legacy of love and joyful memories, including her son, Justin R. Wilkie; her mother, Virginia Townes; five brothers, Lynn, Craig, Silvester, Corwin, and Shawn, a sister, Sandra; aunts Lydia Carter, Mabel Nicholson, Cornelia Lewter, and uncle Wardell Lewter; her partner Frank Rowlette; her BFF Tiffany Holloway; cousins Steven, Stanley, Kathy, Ashley, Brittany, Carolyn,; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
