Im still in denial writing this note. Today we will gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable soul who have touched the hearts of everyone she meets; her smile , kindness and unwavering support. Leslie had the ability to light up any room and bring joy. As I cherish the memories I will continue to pray for The Nelsen’s family . My heart goes out to Gregg and family ❤️
May the support of family and friends bring you comfort and peace during this period of grief. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers 🙏

Oh, Gregg, how very sad to lose your life partner so soon! You are an awesome husband and obviously Leslie was blessed by your love and care for her and your children.  May you be comforted by your memories and the unconditional love of God the Father!

Love,

Steve and Julie Page

I’m lacking in words . . . but not tears.

Grieving the loss of you, is so much. It’s taken awhile to sum up the courage to face writing this down. It makes things - feel. more. real. and. yet. not.

How can I hold the gratitude of getting to talk with you on your final day communicating & eating as well as a shattered heart that cancer took you.

“I love you so much it hurts,” you spoke into my ear as I held you.

“You always cut the pecans perfectly,” you took the energy to remind me - I had long forgotten.

As an 18 year old I flew across the country with only a couple duffle bags - you received me only the way a mama can, & we went through Bed Bath & Beyond for comforters & pillows like it was our mission.

You dropped me off at college for preseason with a smile on your face letting me know I’d be alright. And then welcomed me ‘home’ every Thanksgiving & Easter all those years. What a highlight of my life story.

You cared for me after I got my tonsils removed - I think you laughed at me for days with how out of it I was in the recovery room. Then there was the wisdom teeth out a few years later, & helping ship me off to Guatemala & El Salvador for a short term mission trip.

I will always remember how you wouldn’t let me load the dishwasher - you were particular about that. And my name is still carved in your kitchen table.

Thank you for the trip of a lifetime to New York - the food, sights, & broadway . . . what a treat.

I went Black Friday shopping for the first time with Abby & you gave me my first Easter basket - as an adult lol - & it was the best!

You always pursued me with question after question, never letting the lime light come back to you for long. And then there’s the fact that you had a ‘secret’ Instagram (not your name) so you could keep up with all of us without having to interact with others. 😄

I’m so privileged to have had you as a second mama. And I’m so sorry your wonderful hubby, kids, & grandkids have to walk this side of eternity without you now. 🥺

You were the best! Even in your final days I saw your spunk as you got frustrated there were no potato chips for you to snack on in the house.

Love you. That’s all I have for now.

Leslie’s bright smile and encouraging way has been a blessing and wonderful characteristic over the many years that we have known her from afar.  With our daughter Jenni  getting to know her up close spending four years in college not far away from Leslie, we felt she had a second mother.  Jenni  knew she had a second mother.  I was thankful that Leslie loaned me her sons to go on a Sports ministry trip to the Philippines for part of the summer.  They were diligent and compassionate and great teammates to the whole team.   Teri and I grieve with you all, but we are thankful for the life that she lived and the fact that we get to spend eternity with her.
I am deeply sorry for your loss.  Sending out prayers to your family and friends.
Our entire Ministry Department is Praying for your Family. Gregg, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Leslie had an incredibly kind heart; she helped and supported so many people. I am praying for you and your Family.
I am so sorry for the passing of Leslie. I only knew her a short time, but was taken by her sweet spirit that radiated from her. God has gotten a real angel. She will be missed.
Gregg my sincerest condolences to you and your family. My prayers are with you and your family.

I first met Leslie when I started working for Elevate Orlando back in 2020 right before Covid. Leslie and Melissa was like a breath of fresh air. You could tell that both ladies loved God and loved his people. Leslie was inspiring and had such a deep richness of God’s word within her. In early 2023, I became her mentee and I was very excited about that. Whenever I would see her it was always a great time for me to download more of God’s wisdom. She was like a deep well. As she was journeying through her trial in this last year,  our time together decreased understandably but when we did see each other it was always excitement, love, and God’s word. A week before Leslie passed, she blessed me with a beautiful bible. The words she wrote in it will forever live in my heart and the scripture she left  (2 Corinthians 5) is what we all hope for one day.  I truly believe Leslie has received God’s true healing and freedom that we all will experience one day. She will forever inspire me to keep pushing for Christ and even when life gets hard keep fighting the good fight of faith because our Heavenly Father has a great reward for those who endure to the end. Greg, my prayers are continually with you and  your entire family. Thank you for sharing her with us!

 Sincerely,

Chev Corley

So sorry for your loss Gregg. While reading Leslie’s obituary though, I was so happy to read about the great life that she had in this world with you and your family. She lived her life for the Lord and she is with him now. What a blessing. Rest in Peace Leslie.🙏 Take care Gregg, sending prayers up for you and your family.❤️

I send my deepest condolences to the family and all of those that were close to Leslie and to those whose lives that she touched. I regret that I never had a chance to meet her. She sounds like  someone that I would have really enjoyed having as a friend and a mentor. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. And to Leslie, I’m glad that you are free from the suffering and are resting peacefully in the hands of your maker. I look forward to meeting you and joining you in laughter and friendship , when the Lord decides that it is time to take me home.

God Bless,

Debbie Chambers (Phillip’s wife)
