Leslie's obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Leslie "Les" Broughton, who left this world on May 21, 2025. Les was born on June 4, 1963, and his departure has left a deep void in our hearts. A remarkably intelligent and caring individual, Les would often walk behind his younger sister as a toddler, making sure she never fell. His love and compassion were a constant presence in our lives.
Les is survived by his loving sister, Debra Claycomb; cherisedson, Justin Rathgaber and his mother Kirsten; caring nephews, Georald Keene, William Claycomb, Alastair Claycomb, and Charlie (Jordan) Keene; dear nieces, Elizabeth (Brian) Skaggs and Catherine (Michael) Keene; cherished cousins, Brian Broughton, Jennifer Broughton, and Jane Broughton; and his steadfast brother-in-law, Christian Claycomb.
Les was predeceased by his cherished grandfather, Leslie Broughton; beloved grandmother, Thelma Broughton; grandfather, Bernard Rogers; adored grandmother, Wilma Rogers (Moore); father, James Broughton; nurturing mother, Patricia Rogers; and fond uncles, Irvine Rogers, and David Broughton; as well as his treasured aunt, Sharron Broughton.
Everyone who knew Les was touched by his kindness and intelligence. He believed in the power of empathy, often saying, "It's more important how you make others feel than how they make you feel." An embodiment of this wisdom, he never failed to uplift those around him.
His son Justin was his proudest accomplishment. The bond they shared was a testament to Les's loving heart and sincere nature. Les looked forward to dinners and movie nights as the highlight of any week. Les's laughter, music, and love formed the pillars of his legacy, deeply intertwined in the lives of those he has left behind.
The depth of our loss is fathomless as we bid farewell to a caring brother, loving father, and a trusted friend. Les, your absence leaves an immeasurable void, but your spirit lives on through the laughter, music, and love you've left behind.
