Fred's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mr. Leroy "Fred" Roush, Jr., fondly known to most as Fred. Born on August 31, 1954, Fred left us all too soon on October 13, 2017.
Remembered for his kind, funny, and eccentric personality, Fred's character was a beacon of light to those who were fortunate enough to know him. His quick wit and jovial nature were matched only by his vast understanding and love for sports. This passion was reflected in his professional life as a sports writer for the Gainesville Sun, a role which he took great pride in. His diligent work and insightful analysis made him an esteemed figure in the sporting world.
Despite his professional accomplishments, to Fred, family was always paramount. He is survived by his beloved nieces, Amy Taylor and Amanda Maddox, who were a source of joy and pride in his life. Fred's memory will live on in his nieces, as well as the numerous friends, colleagues, and sports fans whose lives he touched with his unique charm and wit.
