I imposed myself on Leota's hospitality when I moved into her house with Jim, , she was softspoken, and i found it odd that she never voiced any objections to our intrusion, almost as if she was trained not to have a say about anything. I observed that she catered to her husband's every whim , to the extent of being his servant as opposed to just wanting to please him out of love. I had just broken up with my former boyfriend for that reason, and it didn't sit well with me, but I found ways to make her servitude, easier, if she was comfortable with that arrangement, I was gonna support her, though as a woman to woman, I did mention that I thought he was a bit abusive. To show her my love, I helped her clean house and do other chores to support and nurture her. She loved having the family over and I enjoyed seeing the brothers and sister together. Seemed they all got along. Later, she got me hired to work with her , doing alterations , at a Burien laundry. She taught me how to hem jeans and replace their zipppers. Eventually, Jim and I moved out, but I worried about her continuing to live in an abusive relationship. When she did separate from her husband, I felt a sense of relief for her. I didn't see her for many years , Jim and I both moved on, but in 2018, or so I was able to find Jim on facebook and in 2020, Jim brought her to an outdoor jam up in the mountains and she got to see us play music together, It was beautiful and I was so glad to see her again and happy and free, Seeing the loving bond between Jim and Leota , reminded me of how strong love can be , and I cried when they left, wishing that kind of love for all humanity.

We will remember sweet Leota for her smile and her joy when we talked with her. Her love of Jesus was so easy to see when you talked with her.
