Leonard was a wonderful man who quietly went about making the world a better place. I will always cherish his memory. My condolences to the entire Theiss family.
I am heartbroken to hear of a great loss. Leonard was a gentle, kind, compassionate, and supportive man. I will miss him dearly but remember all the good times and memories we shared. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Jessica Gladstone
I remember Leonard from my very first DC area Arthur Murray event way back in 1991. He was always so gracious and kind to me and very supportive of my dancing even though we never danced in the same studio. My condolances and sympathies to Leonard's family and the AM family.
When I think of Leonard, these words come to mind: compassionate, apologetic, supporter, mentor, self-sacrificing, self-serving, honest, true, hilarious, musical and so much more.

Leonard was someone who believed in people. Someone that sought the good in those individuals that wanted a chance. That was a truly admirable trait. Even when there was a clash of the minds, Leonard took time to reflect, return with a fresh perspective, and find common ground.

Often times, I remember Leonard giving praise for a job well done with such encouragement. And when any type of assistance was needed he was readily available.

Leonard took time to listen to the concerns of people; staff, students, family, friends and the like. He had an open ear and an open heart. He heard and counseled accordingly. Leonard was truly a remarkable individual.

Although, I did not have the opportunity to know Leonard as well as most. The two and a half years that I did were so enlightening. Having the privilege of getting to know Leonard on not only a business level, but a personal one as well was such an honor. To learn about and experience some of his quirks, pet peeves and passions. Even though Leonard was a private person, it was wonderful when he would divulge a smidgen of himself, such as his joy for opera singing.

I appreciate Leonard for being an advocate for myself and others, even in the face of adversity. For standing his ground for what he believed in; for what he believed to be right. It was comforting to know that someone had my back in an area that was foreign to me. And who was willing to show support in all future endeavors.

Leonard will surely be missed. I will miss calling him at the studio for advice, calling him on his cell or messaging him randomly on holidays just to check to see how he's doing. Leonard always made it a mission to ensure that everyone was doing well personally and in business. And through any difficult situation. He always had a genuine dialogue with people.

Leonard's memory will always stay in my heart, as I know his memory will stay in the hearts of so many people that he has touched along the way. May his soul be blessed.

Finally, I thank Leonard for being the wonderful person that he was. Someone with a strong integrity and kind intent.

No amount of words could ever sum up the fullness of someone's life. Nor comfort those that loved him. However, my sincere condolences go out to the entire Theiss family, all of his dance family, and the friends and acquaintances of the lives he enriched with his love.
We send our prayers and wishes for healing to all of the Theiss family, friends and the whole dance community. Such a special person you are Len . May you dance in heaven .... . Leonard was a constant and steady presence at local dance events I've attended for more than 20 years, dancing with his students, helping with judging, and just making them better events. It's hard to imagine him not being there anymore. My condolences to his family, colleagues and students.
We are so sorry for your loss. We hope you always keep your loving memories close in your hearts and minds.

Such a quiet presence at our dance events, but his judging comments were thoughtful and appreciated. Leonard was always kind to me. I recall one time I was waiting to go on the floor for a heat and my instructor was already on the floor. Although he didn't really know me well, when Leonard realized I was in the heat line by myself he offered me his arm and escorted me onto the floor to meet my instructor. It was a kind and gentlemanly gesture and I greatly appreciated the kindness which made me feel less nervous. So sorry to hear of his untimely passing and sending my sincere condolences and prayers to his family, friends and students.
We are so sorry to hear of Leonard’s passing. He was a talented dancer and teacher, kind and caring friend. He is greatly missed. We will keep Leonard and his family in our thoughts and prayers.
