It was a genuine pleasure getting to know Buk over the last fifteen years after being acquainted with his younger brother, Paul (Robie) at Kent State in the late 1960s. Buk felt deeply about the condition of the nation and the world. Though unhappy with the direction of things, he laughed easily, enjoyed the company of friends, liked to read and now and then, record his thoughts in the manner that Hunter S. Thompson might have done. He faced death bravely without complaint.
I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of Buk. He was one of the most interesting people I have ever known and I have fond memories of him. One of my favorite quotes, "If you're not going to eat any more hot dogs, get out of my yard." I don't remember the reason, but we always greeted each other the same way, he would inquire, " Who is that?" and I would reply, "It's me!" It always made us laugh.
