Ever since sometime during the early 2010s, I was "the kid that fixed their screen door that one time". It always amused me to hear myself referred to as such by the Clearys!
There are very few people as kind and wholesome as Leonard. I can truly say without a doubt, he did not have a bad bone in his body. He embodied a neighbor in every sense of the word: kind, caring, loyal, thoughtful, and interested in your pursuits and what you had to say. He has left his mark and undoubtedly we will see him again one day.

My heart is broken for all of you! Lenny was amazing in his strength, wittiness and love of life!! His smile was enduring and dare I say at times a bit devilish!! What an incredible sense of humor. I hope he's dancing with the leprechauns! He will be missed. Lots of hugs and love to all of you!!
Some people are just larger than life, and that was Lenny to me. He loved to share his stories, but was even more interested in others and had an amazing memory for details of other folks' stories. He exemplified love of life, love of family, love of the natural world around him, love of his Irish roots but most of all love of God...a man of great faith and oh, so unique. Memories of Lenny will always bring a smile.  I can only imagine the questions he is asking in heaven!
Leonard (and Patty) were very helpful to my friends Paul and Alice Barnett, who lived for a time a couple doors over from them. I appreciate that friendship.
Even though I hadn't been able to see him recently, every story and memory I have of Leonard is timeless and brings a smile to my face. There simply wasn't anyone else like him and that off the wall approach to life helped forge a family of some of the most unique and funny people I've ever met. I know the memories will endure for all of us, and my heart goes to the Cleary family in this hard time.
I was sad to hear the news of Uncle Lenny's passing. Thinking of the family and praying for you all.
