Leonard's obituary
Leonard Burbo, born on June 9, 1959, passed away on May 5, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Smith, whom he married in 2010, step-daughter Lauren Galan, and step-son Anthony Galan. Leonard was predeceased by his father Joseph Burbo, mother Helen Longway-Burbo, brother Ralph Burbo, and sister Charlene Couture. He is also survived by his siblings Joseph Burbo, Pamela Savage, Jim Burbo, Charlie Burbo, and Christine Burbo.
A memorial service for Leonard will be held on May 11, 2023, at 10 AM at the Fletcher First Baptist Church, where he was a devoted attendee. Leonard's favorite foods were marshmallows and cotton candy, and he loved sweet tea with lemon. He was a fan of TV shows such as The Andy Griffith Show and Hogan's Heroes.
Leonard enjoyed riding around the neighborhood in his power chair, giving treats to the dogs as a favorite pastime. For exercise, he loved swimming at the YMCA, and his favorite vacation spot was Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Red was his favorite color, and he was best described as always being a friend to anyone.
Among Leonard's greatest accomplishments were working with the Salvation Army to help hurricane victims, serving as Captain of the Stokes Fire Department, and working as a paramedic. In the wake of 9/11, he traveled to New York City to help with the recovery efforts. His legacy is one of love and compassion for people, always showing kindness and making a positive difference in the lives of others.
