Lori's obituary
Leona Lorraine Duffield, aged 72, passed away at the Melville Hospice Home in Surrey, BC, on August 20, 2025, at 11:11am. Lori was diagnosed with Cancer on August 3, 2025, and quickly succumbed to the disease.
Lori was born on January 7th, 1953, in Mindemoya, Ontario. She was the 7th of 10 children born to William Robert Cress (1910-1995) and Nora Elizabeth Cress (1922-1994). She was the loving mother of Cherie and Stanley McKechnie. Her daughter-in-law was Lesley (Glover). Lori’s grandchildren are Geoffrey (Angela Herrera) and Jeremy. She also leaves her great-granddaughter Sofia.
Lori is predeceased by her husband Leonard Ronnie McKechnie (1949-1977) of Moose Jaw, SK. He was the father of her two children. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Donald Kubesh (1951-2022), whom she divorced in 1987. Lori’s loving husband Wayne Duffield (1945-1993) also predeceased her.
Lori loved her family and had fond memories of all her siblings. In her final days her sisters were of great comfort to her: Barbara (Crowle), Doris, Alta (Campbell), and Evelyn (Delisle) and the memories of those conversations will be cherished.
An avid Jeopardy fan, Lori also loved books and puzzles. She was a wicked Canasta player and sometimes quilter. Lori enjoyed taking up new hobbies. While she loved to travel, she had her share by moving across the country several times in search of adventure. Her children are sure there is some Gypsy blood somewhere down the line. Her laugh was infectious. We will miss it.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on September 14, 2025 in the courtyard of her home, Cassola Court. 20680-56th Street, Langley. This will be a special time to gather and share memories with her family and friends. This open house gathering will be from 2pm to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either the Cancer Society, or BC SPCA.
She will not soon be forgotten.
