Leon's obituary

With heavy heart we announce the death of Leon Edward (Ed) Wilkerson 

Born in Temple, Texas at King’s daughter’s hospital on September 24 1948 died on November 11, 2024 after long illness in Temple hospital.

Ed graduated from McGregor high school in 1967 and joined the US Navy in 1968. He was stationed in San Diego and served in Japan and Vietnam

He is survived by three children, Bill Wilkerson (Tracey) of Temple , Lisa Wilkerson (Dan Lee) of Temple and Lori Beth Shaw of Temple Ed is also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren

Ed is also survived by his mother, Tommie Wilkerson of Moffat Texas, and four sisters Nita Plant of Temple Tx, Debbie Shattuck (John) of Round Rock, Texas, Cathy Glover of San Antonio, Texas, and Janet Counts (JT) of Moffat also seven nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews

Ed was proceeded in death by his father, Leon Edward Wilkerson,Sr.

Ed moved to Dubois Wyoming in 1988 where he owned and operated Wapiti Ridge Ranch where he enjoyed being the fishing & hunting guide and lived there until 2007 when he returned to Texas. Ed was very active in the VFW and was state commander for Wyoming during his time there.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date and his ashes will be taken to Wyoming at his request in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local VFW post.
