Leon Jacob Smullen was preceded in death by his parents Janice (Nee' Brooks) and Maurice Smolinsky, his siblings Minnie (Ralph) Kohn, Phyllis (Samuel) Mantell, Ruth (Jason) Scott, Donald Smolinsky, Mary (Terri) Kendlle, Myra London, His son Michael T. Smullen. He was survived by his siblings Marlene (Walter) Dadinsky, Sheryl (David) Bloom, Hillary (Seymour) Piikantou, Talia (Tasha) Small and Paul (Ed) DeLawrence; His loving wife of 43 years, Mary Lynn nee' Sharbaff and his children, Hank (Julie) Smullen, Lydia (Arthur) Levin, Sidney Smullen, Tasha (Grady) Ginsburg, Larry (Timothy) Smullen, Giddy (Yedida) Smullen, R' Zecharya Lipe (R' Leah Rut Rothblum) Smolinsky and Harvey Smullen. Leon was the grandfather of Heather, Shirley, Donald and Jane Levin; Rudy Ginsburg; Robert, Sadie (William Ross), Mimi, Kennedy, Saul and Katie Smullen; Ruben, Rucha Leah, Miraim, Yarden, Simcha, Cameron 'Chaim', Eitan, Gilad, Leib, Tova, Malka and Sischar Elisze Smolinsky ; And great grandfather of Kevin and Brittany Ross.
Leon was an art teacher at West High School Iowa for 6 years after he was a painter for 29 years. Before he was interested in painting he'd been a lawyer for 7 years. Leon was kind hearted and helped everyone he could. He passed away on his way back from the store due to a serious heart attack on Saturday, March 19th, 2022. He will be dearly missed by allFuneral will be at Burlington Jewish cemetery in Iowa- Monday, March 21st 2022.
