Leon's obituary
Leon Major, 79, of Anniston, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. He was born on September 20, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama, to the late Carl Ross Major, Sr., and Mary Ailene Bowman Major.
In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his son Brian Keith; his sister Frances Motes; and his brother Carl Ross Major, Jr. He is survived by his sons Michael Major (Cindy) and Jereamy Major; his beloved grandchildren Colby Garrett Major, Caroline Grace Major, and Connor Grayson Major; his sister Joyce Strickland; his brother Jerry Major; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Leon was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County who built a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and integrity. Over the years, he owned several small businesses in the area and formed many close friendships throughout the community. Known for his warm personality and unwavering faith, Leon never met a stranger. In his later years, he devoted himself to caring for his younger son after a debilitating stroke—a testament to his deep love for family.
A follower of Jesus Christ, Leon’s faith grew stronger with time and served as a source of comfort and guidance throughout his life. His commitment to living by these values left an enduring impression on those who knew him.
In accordance with Leon’s final wishes, his remains will be cremated without a memorial service. Cremation Services of East Alabama is handling the arrangements.
Leon’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his legacy of kindness and devotion bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
