Leo “Buddy” Smith , age 74, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, in Florence, South Carolina. Born on March 10, 1950, Buddy was a cherished member of the Florence community, known for his warm heart, infectious laughter, and dedication to his family and friends.

Buddy spent his career as a skilled carpenter, building not just homes but lasting relationships with those he worked with. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were admired by many, and his work can be seen throughout the community.

Buddy was a loving husband to his wife, Mary, and a devoted father to his two children, David and Lisa. He was also a proud grandfather to his one granddaughter, who brought immense joy to his life. Buddy enjoyed fishing, gardening, and sharing stories with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, David (Rebecca) and his grandchild Taylor, and his brother, Tomi. Buddy's legacy of love, kindness, and hard work will be remembered by all who knew him.

Buddy is preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Ruppenkamp (2006) and his sister, Virginia Stephenson (2012)

A celebration of Buddy's life will be held at his family's waterfront home in Florence, South Carolina, on August 31, 2024, at 3:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to join in sharing memories and honoring Buddy's remarkable life.
