Leo Marion Czerwinski, Jr. 

April 24, 1944 – November 13, 2022

Father and grandfather, Leo Marion Czerwinski, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully in Fort Myers, FL on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Born in Bay City, Michigan on April 24, 1944, to Leo M. Czerwinski, Sr., and Helen J. Reder. Leo graduated from Bay City Central High School and continued his education at Northwood University receiving degrees in Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business, Associate of the Art's International Business Trade Commerce, and Associate of Arts in Business Administration and Management.

Leo married Charlene “Sherry” Ager on February 8, 1964 in Auburn, Michigan. During their 25-year marriage, they lived in Auburn, Michigan, Midland, Michigan, Coral Cables, Florida, São Paulo, Brazil, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Houston, Texas.

Father of four children he is survived by Leo Marion Czerwinski, IV of Cypress, Texas; Stephanie Ann (Harrison) and husband Kirk of Houston, Texas; Carrie Cassie (Burleigh) and husband Larry of Cypress, Texas; and Jason Jeremy Czerwinski and partner Susan of Bastrop, Texas. Grandfather of seven Grandchildren:  Seth and wife Lindsey, Alexis and Garret Harrison of Cypress, Texas;  Nathaniel and Elyssa Czerwinski of Austin, Texas;  Victoria and Blake Burleigh of Cypress, Texas.  Great-Grandfather of five:  London and Ivi Czerwinski;  Adeline, Beaux and Scottie Rae Harrison.  Brother Roger and wife Katie Czerwinski of Pompano Beach, Florida;  Stepfather Ronald Reder and wife Madeline of Homestead, Florida;  Brother-in-law Albert Stevens of Shepherd, Michigan.  Niece and Nephews: Norman, Mark and Cindy Stevens of Michigan; Roger and wife Noel Czerwinski of Red Lion, Pennsylvania; Michael Czerwinski of Deerfield Beach, Florida; and so many Great Nieces and Nephews.  His friend and partner Francisco Alvarez Rodriguez of Fort Myers, Florida.

Leo was preceded in death by Helen J. Reder (mother), Leo M. Czerwinski, Sr. (father), David Czerwinski (brother), and Diane Stevens (sister).

While attending Northwood University in 1967, he joined The Dow Chemical Company to work in Midland, Michigan  Headquarters.  In 1974 Leo transferred to the Latin American Headquarters in Coral Gables, Florida to train employees in the United States Latin American Import/Export Division. In 1976 he accepted an International Manager assignment and move with his family to São Paulo, Brazil Dow Chemical Headquarters to train Brazil sales employees within the Dow systems. In 1980 returned to the United States and relocated to Houston, Texas to continue International Business Marketing Management for The Dow Chemical Company and was assigned several unique assignments as an International Trade Specialist and Trade Barter. He continued to train and develop Dow Chemical Employees in International Sales and Business activities in Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Russia, Yugoslavia and China. Directed the negotiations between the respective Dow regions and their governments in Barter Trade. In 1993 he assisted in the restructure of Dow Chemical's United States International Importing/Exporting business. After 27 years of service with Dow Chemical, he retired in 1994 and relocated to Miami, Florida.

In 2009 he and his sister Diane found an interest in researching the Czerwinski Family Tree. He and Diane connected genealogy resources such as surname meanings, obituaries, grave locations, vital birth records, marriage documents, death documents, military records, photographs, and historical connections of families going back to the 1800s. They were able to complete a copy for each of their family and children prior to his sister’s passing in 2021. Leo was involved with the Pastoral Ministries for the Catholic Church in Naples and Fort Myers, Florida to provide Eucharist Ministries of Holy Communion and visitation to those in nursing homes, homebound, hospitals and assisted living facilities. Volunteered and focused on the Vulnerable Adult Abuse programs within the community of Naples and Fort Myers, Florida.

Leo requested a small service with immediate family only.  His children will have a Celebration of Life with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren on Saturday, April 15, 2023.  We appreciate your love and support.  We encourage everyone to please share their favorite memories of Leo on this memorial page.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations to honor and celebrate Leo Marion Czerwinski, Jr. be planted towards honorary tree seedlings with “A Living Tribute” in the areas of Central and South Texas that are in need of reforestation. Texas area locations are Travis County, Hays County, Blanco County (Floodplain Restoration) and Bastrop County (Loblolly Pine Tree Restoration).
