Lenore's obituary
Lenore Millan (née Yglesias), 65, of Silverton, NJ, passed peacefully on June 5th, 2025. She was a vivacious, passionate and fun-loving woman. Lenore was down to earth, and showed so much love and kindness, to everyone she met.
Born in Bayonne, NJ on August 8, 1959, to Joseph Yglesias Jr., and Mary "Marie" Yglesias (née Mastromonaco), Lenore graduated from Bayonne High School in 1977, and went on to build a beautiful and successful life.
As quite a renaissance woman, her studies and endeavors varied. She worked at the Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne, she was a clerk typist at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, a sales coordinator at the Radisson Hotel in Newark, NJ. Lenore always had a talent and passion for cooking, and went on to graduate from the culinary arts program at OCVTS in 2009. One of her most fulfilling positions was working in special education for many years, where she made an incredible difference in the lives of so many students. After retiring, Lenore kept going, working at Boscov's and she loved it; she made wonderful connections with coworkers and customers. She truly loved people and she brought smiles to so many faces just by being herself.
As a proud, life-long New Jersey resident, growing up she would spend time with her brothers and friends out in LBI and Mystic Islands at her family's summer house. Later, moving to Point Pleasant, NJ, where she resided for over 20 years, she valued being by the water and loved going to the beach. Lenore loved an adventure, and enjoyed everything from spending summers "glamping" with family and friends in the Pocono Mountains, and spending time in her happy place of Cape May, NJ. Lenore loved music, of all different genres, and especially enjoyed live music - going to countless concerts throughout her whole life. Some of her favorite artists and bands included Pink Floyd, YES, Chicago, Jackson Browne, Foreigner, Elton John, Santana, ELO, and so many more, but most importantly, the Allman Brothers Band. Lenore was a very patriotic person and had so much love for our country. She loved good times with good food, going shopping, and thrifting, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She had an eye for detail and loved glitter and bling. She loved fashion; to accessorize, to decorate and had impeccable taste!
Lenore is survived by her former husband, Mark Millan, of Point Pleasant, their daughter, Mia Millan, and her partner Lauren Palumbo, her aunt, Juanita Yglesias-Stehwein, many of her beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends and colleagues. She is pre-deceased by her father and mother, her brothers, Frederick B. Yglesias and Joseph Yglesias III.
A memorial service celebrating Lenore's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Cape May County Zoological Society.
