Background
Dear Love Ones,
Last year, as most of you know Bo was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. After long talks with Tommy and his doctors , the decision of direct chemo was decided. The doctors were confident with the direct infusions it would be highly successful. At this point we were under the impression the cancer was under control and contained. After 12 direct treatments, he underwent scans and screenings to confirm the status of it. After a few short weeks we received the news we had all hoped and prayed for, he was in remission.
The joy of that news wouldn't last long.
A few short months later he started to notice some of the same issues. After a visit with the same doctors and being treated like nothing was wrong he and Tommy decided to get a second opinion and this time he would go to a different facility with different Doctors. The news that was told next was definitely not what we wanted or expected! Not only was the cancer back but it was worse, very vigorous and had spread. He decided to start more intense treatments but after a few treatments of Chemo with Radiation but problems started to occur with his Heart and started to go into rejection. Those who know his struggles 14 years ago with his Heart and something he was so thankful for receiving a second chance, and with that he was not willing to jeopardize something he waited and prayed for so long. He went to visit his transplant doctors and as a team they started a new plan. He was told surgery was the only option. Before surgery he was told he would come out with a colostomy bag. He accepted this with the fact he would still be alive.
While in surgery it was discovered that the cancer was much worse than they thought and had spread.
A few short weeks later, Bo and the doctors made the heartbreaking decision to stop all treatments, fearing that chemotherapy was doing more harm than good. His cancer cells had developed resistance to treatments and so vigorous that it was spreading quickly, with no signs of the disease slowing down. He decided Hospice Care was the best decision so he could come home and enjoy the time he had left with his family and friends in the comfort of his own home.
This wasn't him giving up. This was him being able to spend every second he could with the ones he loved the most. He is the strongest person we know—protector, loving, caring and compassionate. His whole life he has been the first one to jump when someone needed him. No matter what it was or what it was for.
Tommy was left with a hard decision that was not fair to have to make. Due to having to take time off of work with the surgeries, treatments, doctor appointments and then transition to home and not knowing how long he had left he was told he had to make a choice, resign his position or they would have to fire him due to his absence. He has been unable to work, and has become his full-time caregiver. With the rising costs of living, medical bills, and everyday expenses, our family is struggling to stay afloat. Tommy has always worked and been a hard worker but having to choose between his spouse and his job isn't fair. He was let go for impractical decisions. He thought he was planning in advance and unfortunately he was left with the cost to complete payment of the final wishes and bills that continue to pile up.
How You Can Help
Bo has fought bravely through surgeries, chemotherapy, and countless medical procedures. But the financial burden of treatment, alternative therapies, and everyday expenses has become overwhelming.
I’ve created this donation to help ease the financial burden and ensure Tommy receives the help and support that he deserves;
Donations will go directly toward:
• Uncovered medical expenses and specialized treatments
• Lost income due to his inability to work
• Essential living costs (food, utilities, phone bills, transportation)
• Inevitable funeral and memorial expenses
Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference. All contributions will go directly toward these expenses and will be documented.
This journey has been incredibly difficult, both emotionally and financially. Your generosity will allow us to focus on what truly matters.
If you are unable to donate, please pray for my lovely uncle & please consider sharing this fundraiser with others. Your kindness, prayers, and support mean the world to us.
