Lee's obituary

Leland (Lee) Eugene Gery, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024 in Burleson, TX after a life filled with love and laughter. Lee was born on January 5, 1942, in Allentown, PA to Themis Irene Sandhaus Gery and Leland Eugene Gery, Sr. Lee was a Christian who loved God and Jesus and showed their love in this world. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Mary Ann Kronenbitter, and half-brother Joseph Jay Vrabel; Lee is survived by his wife of 53 years Deborah; children, Russell (Elizabeth) Gery, Kristin (Werner) Fries, and Jonathan (Michelle) Gery; his grandchildren Cody (Camille) Craine, Justin (Chanelle) Gery, Lindy Craine, Madeline (Daniel) Luna, Shelby (Sameer) Qawari, Savannah Gery, Eva Fries, Ty Gery, and Lucy Fries; and great grandchildren Kaden Bramlett, Windsor Bramlett, Sawyer Gery, and Ranger Luna.

Lee was a proud Veteran of the US Navy. After his service, he studied engineering and subsequently went to work for Mack Trucks in Allentown, PA as a mechanic and eventually an instructor. He met Debbie in 1970 through a mutual friend while playing frisbee. They fell in love and were married in June 1971. Lee was very devoted to his family, loved to tell “Lee” jokes, and share his dry sense of humor almost as much as he loved his coffee. He also enjoyed auto racing, boating, listening to and playing music on his keyboard, and watching football.

A celebration of Lee’s life will be held at First Methodist Mansfield Church in Mansfield, TX on January 6, 2025 at 10am in the Sanctuary.
