Leila's obituary
She was born to the late Max Specht and Lillian Johnsen, March 17, 1927, in Valparaiso, Indiana. Leila graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1945 and attended Iowa State College for one year. She married her high school sweetheart, Edward Wadington, in 1946 when he returned from serving in the Navy during WWII. They resided in Illinois and Florida while raising their family, and finally retiring in South Carolina and then Flagler, Florida.
Leila was a para-professional librarian at the Downers Grove High School in Illinois. She was an active church member, an alto with the Daytona Beach Sweet Adelines, a tax preparer, editor for the Flagler County Stamp & Coin Club and a master quilter. Above all, Leila was a beloved wife, mother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward and sons, Michael and Donald, her sister Elaine Reiman and brother Chuck Specht. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Frank Cichon, her son Thomas Wadington, twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Leila was loved and respected for her generous, kind, and caring spirit. Her steadfast faith was a huge part of her life and we take comfort knowing that she rests in the loving embrace of our Lord. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1205 Ridgewood Avenue, Holly Hill, FL 32117 and a Celebration of Life service will be held at the church on Sept 10 at 2 pm.
