Leigh's obituary
Leigh Henry Houseman was born in Wauwatosa, WI on November 25, 1938, and died on February 21, 2023 in Lancaster, Massachusetts. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady, NY and Tufts University School of Engineering in 1964.
He married Emma Danckert Stein Houseman on August 25, 1962. He was employed at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Schenectady NY, Mobil Oil Corporation in Auburn, ME and East Boston, MA, and Boston Medical Center before opening H&H Specialties Inc. in the late 1960s. Leigh designed and manufactured stabilizer bars for European street and race cars. He also served on the board of the Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Chelmsford, MA.
He was the son of Viola Louise Pawson Houseman and Kenneth Francis Houseman of Plainfield NJ. He is survived by his wife Emma, his two daughters, Kristina Louise Houseman Bowman (Bruce), and Lesley Elizabeth Houseman Poirier (William), two granddaughters Leanne (Kevin) and Kathryn, and one great grandson Bradley, and two additional grandsons (Drew and Daniel). He is also survived by his sister, Rev. Gail Zackrison in Pennsylvania, and her daughter Rebecca and family in South Carolina.
Leigh was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Chelmsford, MA. He served on the house and standing committee with a round as chairman. He chaired the 4th of July booth and made omelets for the May breakfast.
The great loves of his life were his family and friends, music of all kinds, cars, and especially his rescue and stray cats, many over the years.
