Leford's obituary
Leford James "LJ" Williams went home to Jesus on March 1st, 2022 at age 55.
Leford, affectionately known as “LJ”, was born to Minnie and Leford Williams on March 30th, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York. In the 1970s the Williams family moved down south to Kingstree, South Carolina and then to Charleston, South Carolina. As a young scholar, he attended Camden Military Academy and the Citadel Summer Camp for Boys. As a young adult, LJ, went on to serve in the United States Navy. For many years, LJ established a career as a delivery man for a variety of floral shops in Manhattan, New York and often assisted in making floral arrangements. He found great joy in this industry, which showed in the quality and beauty of his work.
LJ was known as a generous and thoughtful person in any community in which he lived. He often took time to encourage younger generations to keep pursuing their dreams, not give up, and say how proud he was of them. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.
Leford joins his parents and grandparents in Heaven. He is survived by his three siblings Deborah Walker, Clifford Williams (Donnesah), and Geneva Gee; eight nieces and nephews, Derrick Walker, Ade (Rachel) Gee, Devin (Anri) Walker, Amira (Babatunde) Adebayo, Alexander “Duke” Williams, Dion Walker, Crescent Williams, and Autumn Williams; one grandniece, Zuri Gee; two grandnephews Naru Walker and Emeri Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
