Lee's obituary
It is with God’s peace that we announce the passing of Lee Sandretzky, who left us on May 27, 2023 after a quick sudden series of strokes and dementia complications. Born on March 22, 1932, Lee lived a fulfilling 91 years, touching the lives of many with his quick wit and love for laughter.
Preceded in death by his wife Marilou (1973) Lee is survived by his loving family; daughters, Bonnie Leathley, and Marlee Garza, and his son, Lorin Sandretzky, his granddaughter Brittnee Garza, his grandsons Michael Garza and Steffen Garza, and his sisters, Donna Gerhardt and Fern “Rinkie” Hughes, and many nieces and nephews throughout the country. Lee was a proud father and grandfather, always cherishing his time spent with family and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Lee had a passion for playing his accordions and going Jeeping with his fellow Lake Tapps Turtles Jeep Club members. These activities brought joy to his life and fostered a strong sense of community among those who shared his interests. The mountains of Washington State held a special place in his heart and served as his favorite getaway spot, where he would revel in the beauty of nature and enjoy the tranquility of the great outdoors, always referring to it as “God’s Country”!
Lee's warm and engaging personality drew people to him. He was known for his gift of humor and enjoyed chatting with anyone willing to engage in conversation. In his later years, he became more mellow and steered clear of conflict, a contrast to his bold and feisty younger years. His ability to make people laugh and feel at ease was treasured by those who knew him.
His legacy, besides his three children and three grandchildren, can be found in the trees and various older landscapes of the greater Burien/Highline area. Lee's love for nature and the environment will be remembered by everyone who had the opportunity to witness his dedication to conserving the beauty of his beloved surroundings.
Lee Sandretzky will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he loved. Rest in peace, Lee/Dad, as you continue to brighten the lives of those you left behind with the memories of your laughter and love of life.
