Leanna's obituary
Leanna was in a truly great place in her life. She graduated with honors from West Coast Nursing School in February 2020 and met some of her best friends during her time there. By December, she was eight months into her dream job as an ER nurse at Victor Valley Medical Center. Every day when she came home, she had various stories about her experiences with patients, doctors, etc. She was MADE for the ER! She loved every second of being there and told us many times, “I love my job!” She specifically liked being in the COVID unit. In fact, during her quarantine at home (short stint with COVID), she worked hard on a six page document for the director of the ER unit at her hospital suggesting how the COVID unit could be improved and better organized. Leanna was also working hard at becoming a charge nurse because of her leadership skills, toughness, passion for nursing, and lovable personality. Her boss Debbie said her nickname at work was “spitfire” (very fitting for Leanna).
She loved her dad, mom, and two sisters Kayla and Marissa very much and they knew it. In October, we took family photos which we have not done for a long time. We are so thankful for those photos and memories! We recently got to enjoy her cousin Robin and Eric’s wedding back in November. Leanna was the maid of honor. A day that was filled with many fun memories as a family that we will cherish forever.
Leanna has always been known in our family as the “adrenaline-junkie”. For some celebrations, she enjoyed jumping off the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, bungee jumping (which she continued to do many times), parasailing, and skydiving. She also loved exploring and traveling to new places in the USA and out, such as, Australia (stayed for 3 months), Japan, Iceland, and Mexico.
Leanna met her boyfriend Sam two years ago at Stagecoach (a country music festival). As parents, we are so incredibly happy and grateful she had an amazing relationship with him. She found another adventurous spirit just like her. They loved each other very much and shared many fun memories. We are so proud of her for finding such a smart, hard working, kind, and strong man. She told us many times, he is “literally perfect”!
On her days off, she enjoyed taking our chocolate lab, Penny, to the dog park and grabbing a “puppuccino” (whipped cream in a cup for dogs) from Starbucks. She also took up the hobby of pour painting (as pictured below). As with everything in her life, she went into it 100%. Sam mentioned that she messaged famous pour painters for tips and tricks, so that she could improve her skills.
Her selflessness, adventurer-spirit, joy for life, strength, and fearlessness will live on in our hearts forever. We feel so blessed to have had her in our lives these past 24 years and relish all the memories! Gone way too soon. We love you Leanna and are so proud of you!!!
