Leah's obituary

Leah Marie Bonaparte was born Jan 19, 1983, in Van Nuys, CA to her parents Francois and Katherine Bonaparte. Leah grew up in the L.A. area where she lived most of her life. From early on, it was apparent that Leah was a go getter and didn’t let obstacles get in her way. Even if that obstacle was sibling. When her brother Josh was born, he got in her way of being the only child, which was not ok in her book. To take him out, she decided to bury baby Josh with balls while he slept in his crib. Obviously, she was unsuccessful in her plot which was ok. She accepted the fact that she was no longer the only one, and she had to share her parents love. Sharing was something Leah learned to do well and not only did she become a loving and caring sister, but a very loving and caring friend to many. Leah was involved in so many different things in her life. From a young age, Leah wanted to learn as much as she could and help in anyway. She joined the girl scouts and pretty sure she earned ever badge possible. Leah was also very involved in saving the environment. She pushed for everyone in her circle to recycle and to volunteer to pick up trash to help save the plant. She also played different sports through the years including softball and volleyball with her most recent adventures in pickleball! But her ultimate love was soccer. She started playing at a young age and played through high school. She was an amazing goalie and player and help her team win many tournaments and games. Scouts always had their eye on her. But her plans were bigger. It’s no secret that Leah was in love with Jesus. It was her mission in life to share the love of Jesus and hope for everyone to have a relationship with the Lord. When Leah was 18, she moved to Hawaii with a missionary group where she was able to continue her mission. She lived there for four years before coming home to the mainland one Christmas. While there on Christmas break, she made the announcement to her family that she was moving to London in a week. That was Leah, always surprising everyone with her crazy ideas. But that’s just her. She lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling all over the world, making friends everywhere she went and most importantly, sharing the gospel. It’s no doubt that through her life, people were touched by her presence. But not only her presence but her genuine love for God. I believe that through her example and love, many found their way to the Lord. To say Leah was a bright light is an understatement. She was more than special…she was an angel. Leah went to be with the Lord on Oct 19, 2022. She was preceded in death by her father Francois, her sister Annie and her grandfather’s William Sarles and John Bonapart. She is survived by her Mother Katherine Bonaparte, her siblings Joshua, Jessica and Luke Bonaparte and many other family members.
