Larry's obituary
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Lawrence (Larry) Whitney who left us on June 9, 2025. Born on January 7, 1957, Larry's humor, unwavering spirit, and deep love for his family and friends remains an inspiring legacy for those he left behind.
He will be forever remembered by his wife of fifty years Valerie Mary (Catanzaro) Whitney, and his loving children Amy (Whitney) Newtown [Gary Newtown], Kenneth Cosimo Whitney, Laura (Whitney) Harlow [Andrew Harlow]. He is also survived by his sisters: Diane (Whitney) Goolsby [David Goolsby], Lynn (Whitney) Carbol [Mick Carbol], and five grandchildren: Whitney and Hayley Newtown; and Jaxson, Wesley and Elliot Harlow. Larry is predeceased by his mother Mary (Webb) Whitney, father Kenneth Whitney, and brother Thomas Whitney.
His presence created immense joy and laughter. His memories will continue to warm our hearts, and his stories continue on through his friends and family. He enriched our lives with his humor, kindness, and dedication. He was an avid golfer and loyal member of IBEW Local 1 for over forty years. Larry was a volunteer at St. Jerome's Catholic Church where he helped for many years with fish fry events, coaching youth sports, and a member of the mens club. He committed to a life of recovery for over forty years with the support of AA. His loss is deeply felt and he will be greatly missed.
As we mourn Larry's departure, let us celebrate his life, remembering his journey that touched so many.
