Larry's obituary

Larry, who was born on November 3, 1965, passed away in his sleep on January 16, 2025.

Larry's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, his craft, and his desire to help others. A devoted husband to Charlene Sparks and a loving father to twelve children, he and Charlene created a nurturing and supportive home, especially for children with special needs. Larry and Charlene embraced the role of foster parents, welcoming 20 children into their home and ultimately adopting seven as their own. Reflecting on their journey, Larry once said, “To watch them grow up and know we had a part in it has been very rewarding.” Their hearts and doors were always open, providing stability and unconditional love to those in need.

A lifelong contractor and home builder, Larry took pride in his craftsmanship, creating homes for others while also building a home full of love and care for his own family.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Larry Sparks, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Shari Sparks, his wife, Charlene Sparks, and their twelve children: Mallory Tenholder (Cory), Tiffany McPherson (Joshua), Billy Deerman (Nikkie), Trey (Destiny), Mickey, Chris, Mikey, Racheal, Jacob, Isabella, Brooke, and Alexander Sparks. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren who brought him countless joy.

He is also survived by his siblings: Robin Castor (Tom), Kim Libonati (Dana), Kari Simpson (Bill), Miles Stutts (Carla), Jeremy Sparks (Susan), Jennifer Goings (Gary), Amanda Lewis, and John Lafe Carlos (Kim) along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Larry’s kindness, generosity, and dedication to his family and community will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his love and service.
