Lawrence's obituary

Dr Lawrence ("Larry") Allen Schneider, the dearly-loved father to John, Jake, and Bailey, celebrated 65 years of youth and passed away at home in Arizona on October 1st, 2021. Born in Detroit to Lisa and Carl Schneider on August 3rd, 1956, it was Larry versus the world from a young age. An alumnus of the University of Michigan Medical School and orthopedic surgery training program, he was a Michigan Man through and through and exemplified the Leaders and the Best. Larry was a unique and dynamic man driven by his extreme tenacity and competitive nature. Ambition set the tone for all of the success in Larry's life, both personal and professional. He was an accomplished athlete, physician, and entrepreneur, that faithfully lived his life to serve others.

Although Larry achieved extraordinary success in his professional endeavours, it would be difficult to say it was surprising. Larry was witty beyond measure and had an impressive eye for what he knew would be successful and was bound to flourish. Larry was generous and would do anything for the people he loved. He was humorous, had a fiercely protective temperament, and exceptionally loving nature. He would give anyone the shirt off his back. He cared deeply about his family and friends and was always known to ask, "How are you, really?" and took the time and care to check in on his loved ones regularly. He was colour-blind, literally and figuratively, and often wore bright colours that suited his vibrant soul. He loved the simple pleasures of life, including Michigan football, spending time on the water at The River, tending to his fruit trees, eating a coney dog from Lafayette, listening to vinyl records, and taking his dogs Blu and Mongo to AJ's on a Saturday morning for coffee and bacon.

Larry's certainty for things he believed in extended far past his professional life. His most significant self-admitted accomplishments were his beloved children, John, Jake, and Bailey. He taught them how to be strong and independent, loving and gentle, shrewd and clever, but most of all, how to succeed in academics, business, and family life. The greatest gift he gave them was resilience. The bond Larry shared with his children was deep, rare, and his love for them was palpable by all who knew him. Larry loved to push his children to learn in life and business and was incredibly proud of them and all of their endeavours. As they have been reminded by many who knew him, they were his greatest pride and joy.

Larry: a serial entrepreneur, a physician, a notorious jokester, a creative innovator, a world traveller, an exemplary father, a devoted mentor, a fiercely loyal friend, a doting dog-dad to Blu and Mongo, and a self-proclaimed "visitor from another planet," was always interested in having a laugh. And laugh he did.

His extraordinarily generous nature touched countless lives. He was dearly loved by his family and will be deeply missed by many.
