Lawrence's obituary

Obituary for Lawrence Reginald Davis

1952 – 2025

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Lawrence Reginald Davis, age 72, who peacefully departed this life in the early morning hours of Friday, June 6, 2025, around 12:25 AM, surrounded by his loving family.

Lawrence was a man of quiet strength, humility, and unwavering faith. An only child, he was raised by his beloved mother, Hattie Mae Daniels, whose values shaped his character and guided his path. Throughout his 72 years, Lawrence carried himself with dignity and grace — a Christian man who lived by example, offering thoughtful advice, steady support, and a humble perspective to all who knew him.

A proud graduate of Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, Lawrence earned his degree in economics and dedicated much of his life to educating others. Beginning his teaching career in the 1980s, he taught high school students in Cleveland, Ohio, through the early 1990s. Later, he continued to nurture young minds as a teacher’s aide in an elementary school in Phoenix, Arizona. There, he also generously volunteered as a foster grandparent through Northern Arizona University, touching many lives with his patience and kindness.

Lawrence moved to Phoenix to be closer to his children and grandchildren, becoming a cornerstone of his family’s success and happiness. He proudly supported his sons, Shaun C. Davis Sr. and Lawrence E. Davis Sr., in starting their own small businesses, providing guidance and encouragement every step of the way.

A lifelong fan of Philadelphia sports, Lawrence celebrated the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory for the 2024 NFL season with great pride, sharing the joy with his son Shaun, who shared his passion for the team. He was also a loyal supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Music was the soundtrack of Lawrence’s life. He possessed one of the largest vinyl record collections many had ever seen, especially filled with R&B and pop from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. His vast knowledge of music was often shared through stories, memories, and favorite songs. In addition, he enjoyed watching classic comedy movies — a love that brought laughter and light moments to his home.

Lawrence’s legacy is not one of grand gestures but of steady, unwavering love. He was a man who listened closely, spoke wisely, and lived humbly — a true pillar of strength and faith to his family and community.
