Lawrence's obituary
Lawrence Joshua Meziere Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, California, on August 19, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born in Melrose, Louisiana, on January 2, 1935, Lawrence was the cherished son of Lawrence Meziere Sr. and Francis Lacour Meziere. He carried the warmth and resilience of his Louisiana roots throughout his life, touching everyone he met with his humor, compassion, and unwavering generosity.
A proud Korean War veteran, Lawrence later dedicated many years to the Los Angeles Community College District before retiring and joining his wife in their interior decorating business, Jeanerette’s Draperies a true reflection of their shared creativity and partnership.
Lawrence was married to Jeanerette Bellow Meziere for nearly 67 years, a union built on devotion, laughter, and enduring love. Together they raised two sons, Lawrence Meziere III and Ronald, and were blessed with grandchildren Tiffany, Loreal, and Chastidee and great-grandchildren Kyree, Camdyn, Sky, Journey, and Jace who carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength.
He was preceded in death by siblings Thadeus, Walter, and Margaret and is lovingly remembered by his surviving brothers and sister: Charles, Andrew, and Janie
Lawrence was the kind of man who showed up—day or night, rain or shine—whenever someone needed help. He was funny, loving, and deeply compassionate. A hard worker with a hearty appetite and a love for sports, he once rode as a jockey in his youth and remained a devoted baseball fan throughout his life.
His presence was a comfort, his laughter a gift, and his love a constant. He will be missed beyond measure and remembered with deep affection by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday August 27th 2025 at 3-7 pm at Holy Cross cemetery and Mortuary 5835 w slauson ave, Culver City, ca 90230
